The death toll from the earthquakes that slammed Turkey and Syria on February 6 topped 50,000 on Friday, with Turkey reporting that more than 44,000 people perished.
On Friday night, the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported that the death toll in Turkey from earthquakes had risen to 44,218.
With Syria’s latest stated death toll of 5,914, the two nations’ cumulative death toll now exceeds 50,000.
