In a rare display of Moscow and Washington working together, a US astronaut and two Russian cosmonauts have safely docked at the International Space Station (ISS), NASA announced on Wednesday.
Both NASA and the Russian space agency Roscosmos broadcast live video of the launch from Kazakhstan, and commentators over the transmission stated that everything was stable and the crew was “feeling well.”
Along with three other Russian cosmonauts, three further US astronauts, and one Italian, the three will spend six months on the International Space Station (ISS).
As a result, Moscow has been subjected to unprecedented penalties from Western capitals, notably Washington, and bilateral relations have reached new lows.
Anna Kikina, the sole active female cosmonaut from Russia, is scheduled to launch to the orbiting station at the beginning of October on a SpaceX Crew Dragon.
When in orbit together, Russian cosmonauts and Western astronauts have made an effort to stay out of the dispute that is raging back on Earth.
