According to the military, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Izium on Wednesday. Izium is one of the main cities that Kyiv’s troops recently retook from Russia in a quick counteroffensive. Following a swift counteroffensive in the northeast that drove Russian soldiers back, Ukraine has set its sights on liberating all of the land they have taken over.
Zelensky pledged “success” during the visit, which coincided with Ukraine driving Russian soldiers out of large swaths of the east and gravely weakening Moscow’s plans to seize the entirety of the Donbas region of Ukraine.
“The de-occupied Izium already has our blue-yellow flag flying. And it will be the same in each and every Ukrainian town and city, Zelensky declared in a post on social media. “There is only one direction we can go: ahead and in the direction of victory.”
