China’s Navy is testing its ability to encircle Taiwan and impose a naval blockade on the island by using Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the US House, as a pretext.

According to Valerio Fabbri’s article in Portal Plus, China is acting like a trapped cat following Nancy Pelosi’s turbulent visit to Taiwan, which is not promising for the little island republic.

China has, on the one hand, cut off vital, sensitive communication channels with the US. On the other hand, it has begun a strategy of gradually escalating its aggressive posture toward Taiwan.

According to Fabbri, the question of time and opportunity may soon determine if China invades Taiwan.

Right now, China is not behaving rationally. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) regime immediately after her visit began a rigorous four-day naval exercise in the Taiwanese territorial seas. Live firing was used by Chinese officers, which is often a later test of operational readiness. The exercise featured more than 50 warships and 200 Chinese military aircraft.

The naval exercise was intended to “completely smash the so-called median line” and show China’s ability to prevent foreign intervention in a conflict by controlling and blocking the Bashi Channel, a crucial waterway between the western Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea, according to Meng Xiangqing, a professor at the PLA-affiliated National Defence University, as saying so.

Since Xi Jinping took office, China has indeed adopted exceptionally hostile and belligerent military postures against the majority of the nations with which it has disagreements, according to Portal Plus.

It created a defense identification zone over Senkaku Island and occupied the rocky shoals in the South China Sea.

China altered the situation surrounding Senkaku Island after correctly predicting that the international community would be alarmed but not take any action.

It now wants to utilize Pelosi’s visit to alter the Taiwan Strait situation in its favor. The China of today is serious about flexing its muscles to block any attempt—read: American attempt—to accost or question its motivations in Asia, given its growing size as an economic and military giant.

China is now making it quite apparent to the United States that the more the latter seeks to support financial aid and military hardware for the defense of Taiwan, the more it will restrict the island’s ability to operate freely off its coasts.

In response to the Pelosi visit, China has cut off communication with the United States on matters of defense, climate change, and other international relations in addition to its strong posture toward Taiwan.
