More than two weeks have passed since Russia’s last significant territorial victory, the takeover of the eastern Ukrainian city of Lysychansk, and on Tuesday, Ukraine’s General Army Staff reported that Moscow’s forces were occupied with fortifying their positions in recently annexed territory and launching limited but futile ground assaults, though scattered across numerous different areas.
The deputy head of the Security Council and former president of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, nonetheless adopted a combative tone, indicating that Moscow was prepared to go to any lengths to win.
