According to officials, 46 individuals were found dead and 16 others were brought to hospitals after a tractor-trailer rig carrying suspected migrants was discovered Monday on a lonely back road in Southwest San Antonio.
On Monday, a city worker on the location was alerted to the situation by a plea for help, according to Police Chief William McManus. Officers arrived to discover a corpse on the ground outside the trailer with the trailer’s gate partially open, he added. According to Fire Chief Charles Hood, 12 of the 16 people brought to hospitals with heat-related disorders were adults and four were children. The patients were hot and dehydrated, and there was no water in the trailer.
