The Pakistan National Assembly passed a resolution on Monday denouncing former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s efforts to “defame” the country’s military services for political gain.

A resolution voted by a majority vote asked the “state” to take the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman to the Pakistan Supreme Court for his “anti-Pakistan and anti-armed forces” utterances.

“…The House condemns Imran Niazi’s efforts to denigrate Pakistan’s armed forces for political objectives,” the resolution states.

According to the Dawn newspaper, the resolution further said that the military forces are not only carrying out their duties, but are also the guarantors of Pakistan’s territorial boundaries.

This comes after Imran Khan declared last week that if Pakistan’s elite does not make the correct decisions, the country would be divided into three parts and will lose its nuclear deterrent capability.

The former Prime Minister made these statements during an interview with a television program.

“You will not be able to return to power if the establishment is not with you, regardless of your popularity, as was the case with Benazir Bhutto.” “With this in mind, what is your long-term strategy?” he said.

Following these statements, a number of Pakistani politicians, including former President Asif Ali Zardari, blasted Khan, claiming that no Pakistani could talk about ripping this nation apart.

“This is Modi’s lingo, not Pakistani.” “Be bold and learn to stand on your feet and conduct politics today,” he urged, referring to Imran Khan’s power.

In apparent response to Imran Khan’s bluster, the Pakistani Army stated on Monday that the country’s nuclear capabilities is the guarantee of deterrence and defense of the homeland, and that no compromises will be made on the country’s nuclear program.

General Nadeem Raza, Chairman of Pakistan’s Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), highlighted Monday the need of avoiding unfounded and unnecessary statements on Pakistan’s nuclear program, according to Geo News.

“Pakistan is a responsible and confident nuclear country,” stated the deputy chairman of the National Command Authority during a seminar at Islamabad’s National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST).

He stated that national security is indivisible and that Pakistan will not compromise on its nuclear program under any circumstances.
