According to news reports, a top Texas security official said on Friday that kids locked inside an elementary school classroom repeatedly dialed 911 as authorities waited more than an hour to break the door after tracking the gunman inside the building.

The Texas Department of Public Safety’s Steven McCraw informed a press conference that the commander on the site in Uvalde thought the gunman, Salvador Ramos, was besieged within contiguous classrooms alone, with no survivors.

“With the benefit of hindsight… that was the wrong decision, period,” McCraw remarked, obviously distraught. When confronted with concerns about the delay, the officer stated, “From what we know, we feel there should have been an entrance as soon as you can.” “I’d apologize if I felt it would help.”

One of the emergency calls made from within the classrooms was from a youngster who begged for rescue while police were delayed. According to investigators, the toddler implored, “Please send the cops now.”

The discovery came after three days of confusing and imprecise information from officials about the delay in police response, which lasted more than an hour from the time Ramos entered the school and the time US Border Patrol agents opened the classroom door and killed him. However, not before the 18-year-old shooter slaughtered 19 youngsters and two instructors.

Meanwhile, at a heated press conference, Texas Governor Gregg Abbott informed reporters that he had been provided incorrect information.

“I was duped,” Abbott said. “Some of the information I was provided turned out to be incorrect, and I’m furious about it.”
