Putin's daughters

On Friday, Britain added Vladimir Putin’s daughters to its sanctions list, matching US steps, in an effort to target the lifestyles of people in the Russian president’s inner circle, according to the British government.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the United Kingdom and its Western allies imposed a series of sanctions aimed against Moscow’s rich elites, critical industries, and access to the global financial system.
Putin’s adult daughters Katerina Tikhonova and Maria Vorontsova, as well as Sergeyevna Vinokurova, the daughter of foreign minister Sergei Lavrov, have their assets frozen, according to an update to Britain’s sanctions list. The US imposed sanctions on all three earlier this week.

In a statement, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss stated, “Our unprecedented package of sanctions is punishing the Russian elite and their families, while destroying the Russian economy on a scale Russia hasn’t seen since the fall of the Soviet Union.”

According to Britain’s research, Russia is on the verge of entering the biggest recession since the Soviet Union’s demise. According to the United Kingdom, international sanctions have frozen 60 percent of Russia’s foreign currency reserves.

The Kremlin branded the move against Putin’s daughters as part of a bigger Western hysteria against Russia on Thursday, claiming that its measures are a “special military operation” to disarm and “denazify” Ukraine.
